[Israel violates Iran’s territory. Imperialism continues to attack Iran. — NP]
VIENNA (AP) — Iran is asking the U.N. nuclear agency to condemn the purported incursion of an Israeli drone.
The request, in a letter dated Sept. 9, was posted on Thursday on the website of the U.N.s International Atomic Energy Agency.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard last month said that it shot down an Israeli drone near the country’s uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, south of Tehran.
Alluding to the incident, the letter says Iran “reserves the right to undertake all legitimate necessary measures to defend its territory.” And it says it expects the IAEA “to condemn this act of aggression.”
Iran says its uranium enrichment program is meant only to produce reactor fuel and for medical uses. Israel insists its ultimate purpose is to make the core of a nuclear weapon.
